A Kid Cudi album release just wouldn’t be the same without Cudi taking some time out to talk to Complex Magazine. In a follow up interview to his cover story from earlier this year, Joe La Puma hops on the phone with Cudi last night to talk about recording INDICUD, his state of mind right now, G.O.O.D. Music, talking to Jay-Z about his decision, the future of his music and more.
I’m really happy with all my previous work. Those albums were supposed to bring you into the moment of that place in time I was at, my head state. I can’t listen to [my old] songs now. It was so real and open and raw that if I listen to them I start feeling bad for myself because that was such a sad, sad life I was living. I was really sad kid. It kind of bums me out. I don’t ever want to look back and listen to those records. At my shows is the only time I get into that space and think about those songs. I don’t dwell on what happened in the past. Those songs are out, those albums are out.
As usual, this is a great read so make sure to check out the full story.
