2012 has been good to Rihanna. After scoring her first No. 1 album with Unapologetic, 12th No. 1 single with “Diamonds,” and purchasing a lavish $12 million mansion in L.A., the pop superstar took some much-needed time off during the holidays. RiRi returned to her native Barbados for Christmas with the paparazzi in tow. She soaked up the sun in a bikini while vacationing at Cove Spring House, which has played host to Oscar winners and Forbes list financiers. The 10- bedroom villa boasts a private movie theater, library, fully-equipped gym, and fresh water swimming pool. The paps snapped RiRi lathering up with suntan lotion and chatting with her BFF Melissa while overlooking the ocean on her balcony.
They say there’s no place like home. Taking a break from her album promo, Rihanna was spotted kicking back in Barbados earlier today while holiday shopping with her mother. She hit the streets of Bridgetown dressed in Christian Louboutin pumps, skinny jeans and a Chanel Tote all while causing a little commotion among her hometown folks.
This was her first time back on the island since bringing Oprah home this past Summer. Ironically, Oprah recently named Rihanna as one of her best interviews this year.
She told The Hollywood Reporter: Interestingly enough, the person who surprised me the most was Rihanna. [She] brought one thousand percent of her. You could tell that she came ready. She was open to anything. But I don’t do an interview if someone tells me I can’t ask a certain question. My policy is, I can ask any question, you can tell me you won’t answer it, but you have to tell me that on camera. I just thought she was so thoughtful and so smart. I didn’t know that she was or wasn’t, I only knew her from her music.
Rihanna&Melissa… Rihanna is one of the few celebrities that we always see with a bestfriend from their childhood way before they became famous. Attached at the hip, In the studios as overseas, their friendship’s so genuine and the fact that they’re both females says a lot. They’re an adorable pair…I wish I had a friendship like this.
Cole World just got a little warmer. J. Cole raised the temperature while shooting the Clifton Bell-directed video for “Can’t Get Enough” in sunny Barbados over the weekend. The Latin-flavored song is a collaboration with Trey Songz and will appear on Cole’s debut album Cole World: The Sideline Story (Sept. 27).
The fellas even got a visit from hometown gal Rihanna, who puffed a cigar while making a cameo.
